Who They Are
CITIC Dicastal is a global leader in aluminum wheels and aluminum chassis components. The company supplies the world's top 12 automakers and operates 25 factories across North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Its aluminum wheel sales have ranked among the world's top for 15 consecutive years, firmly holding the industry's leading position. The CITIC Dicastal Morocco production base is located in the Kenitra Atlantic Free Trade Zone, covering approximately 25 hectares, with two aluminum wheel factories and one aluminum casting factory—one of the largest foreign direct-investment projects in Morocco by scale. Under the philosophy of "One Dicastal One Team," CITIC Dicastal has been building a unified management platform. As part of its digital transformation strategy, Dicastal follows a pilot-first, then scale approach. The Morocco base, serving as a capability export center for North Africa and Europe, became the pilot unit. To develop it into a regional capability export center and a benchmark manufacturing factory for the group, the Morocco base deployed SAP S/4HANA locally to support integrated business-finance-tax management for local production while enabling real-time data exchange with group headquarters.
Why They Needed This Upgrade
Before: Challenges & Opportunities
- The two wheel factories and the casting factory at the production base lacked a unified, standardized management platform.
- Data across procurement, production, sales, finance, and cost management was disconnected, creating significant information silos.
- To meet group reporting and compliance requirements, data inconsistencies and system fragmentation needed to be resolved quickly.
- As a smart-manufacturing benchmark factory pilot, the project demanded high standards under tight timelines, requiring rapid go-live and replication to other regions.
- With the production base located in Morocco, SAP S/4HANA was needed to meet local fiscal and tax management requirements.
- The pilot project had extremely high demands for the service provider, requiring a professional consulting team and experienced management personnel.
- MTC's comprehensive SAP overseas service capabilities ensured smooth local project delivery in Morocco.
- MTC's well-established knowledge transfer system enabled the cultivation of digital management talent at the Morocco base during the project. Post go-live project value and highlights:
- Rapidly established a digital management platform for the Morocco base, building a standardized, science-based integrated business-finance-tax management platform.
- Met Moroccan local accounting standards requirements, achieving global financial and tax management with local compliance.
- Established an end-to-end automated and standardized control process spanning procurement, production, quality, sales, finance, and cost accounting—enhancing overall base-wide collaboration efficiency.
- Completed SAP and MES system integration.
- Unified material coding with a strict one-item-one-code rule, introducing batch attributes and shift concepts. DMS and SAP product master data are kept consistent, ensuring data accuracy and improving work efficiency.
- Connected operational and financial data with group headquarters systems, enabling real-time information alignment between the Morocco operation and the group—providing data assurance for CITIC Dicastal's future cross-border business development and decision-making.
